Cultural Icon or Icon of Culture?
We were extremely inspired by the local villages with their multiplicity of connections, short cuts and mixed programmes. From this, we decided to design a building that reflects this specific life and culture. So instead of designing a cultural centre that is visually iconic, we decided to focus internally and embody the ideals of the inhabitants by extending their society’s fabric within the building itself.
