CJ2 / Cheiljedang R&D Center II

We need to create a CJ R&D Institute as a building which drives the ambitions of the company for sustainability and which represents futuristic thinking, both in its layout, its materials, systems and technologies.

The majority of the building consists of a repeated cell structure of offices, labs and ancillary spaces in tree bended slabs that adapt to the natural environment of the site.
The ‘mixing chambers’ are located where the individual slabs combine. These are areas where we ‘mix’ people from different departments to share knowledge, socialize, eat and exercise. If the rest of the building can be considered a generic zone for offices and laboratories the mixing chambers are where the building becomes alive both programatically, spatially and socially.
