The Encants market is thought of as a place for people… an open place. Our approach ensures that all sides of the market are immediately accessible and permeable. Half of the market takes place in the intersection of space between the roof and the ground/parking level. The other half is compressed inside the roof’s seven meter thickness. It is a ramped space that takes visitors from the ground level to the very top of the structure, gently meandering upwards. The market can be visited in the same way as Frank Lloyd Wright’s Guggenheim museum in New York City. One starts at the top and journeys downwards all the way to the large hall under the roof.
