Aalborgs’s harbour bath is part of a greater transformation of a past industrial harbour into a programmatic harbour promenade consisting of parks, museums, restaurants, a visitor’s centre, sports- and play areas. The Harbour Bath will serve as one of several event programs on the strip. Its visual and physical connections with the surrounding context have been important in the design process. The Harbour Bath serves as an extension of the promenade and creates an extra pier from which one can observe the amalgamation of new and old scenery. Every “arm” radiates from a centre node and satisfies one of the required programs. In the centre, the lifeguard oversees the activities and therefore has close contact to all programs.
